CAKE Begins Shipping Its First Street Legal Bike: the Kalk& (and)

Winner of over 25 awards, the Kalk family expands with the first street legal bike hitting the market today.

(New York, NY – August 19, 2019)
CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of lightweight electric off-road performance motorcycles, today announces that the brand’s first street legal bike, the Kalk&, developed to combine off-road performance with urban clean, quiet and efficient commuting, is now shipping to customers across North America and Europe. In tandem with the first deliveries, CAKE will host a Manhattan media launch with test rides around the city, starting today.

“This is a giant step for us in line with the CAKE mission; inspiring towards zero emission, combining excitement with responsibility.
With the need for new means of transportation, vehicles, propellants and infrastructure at large, together with a growing population of people to support the collective obligation towards the planet by committing to respect, responsibility and sustainability, this is CAKE’s and CAKE customers first contribution to urban cleaning,” says Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of CAKE.

Engineered for the outback & allowed for your daily commute, the CAKE Kalk& is a super light electric motorcycle certified for street use, deriving from its precursor, the pure off-road Kalk OR. The concept behind the first street legal motorcycle is to combine the performance and excellence for off-road use, with the benefits of efficiency and lack of pollution and noise to become the ultimate vessel for urban commuting. The off-road performance attributes make it the perfect dual-use vehicle: during weekends, at the summer house, off the car excursion pathfinder.

Developed from scratch to be ultra lightweight with unprecedented reliability and durability, offering industry-leading performance and countless riding possibilities, the motorcycle breaks barriers as the first performance bike that carries a street legal title. The Kalk& is just the beginning of CAKE’s line of motorbikes to come.

Specs, final price and availability are listed on the brand’s website. The pre order is 200 USD or EUR, the currency depending on the customer’s delivery address.

The Kalk& is now available on RideCake.com as at select retailers.

About CAKE:
The all-electric high-performance off-road motorcycle brand is designed for exploration and discovery. First launched in January 2018 at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Denver, the first model – the Kalk – was recognized as “Best in Show” by several outdoor industry publications and has received numerous accolades since. With a focus on design, performance and innovation, every single component of the Kalk had to be custom built, resulting in numerous patents pending. The CAKE Kalk proves electric vehicles can still be aesthetically pleasing while being eco-friendly.

As the EV spaces grows it will be very interesting to see what occurs in the market. Will it grow faster than the motorcycle market? Time will tell.

  1. At $14,000, 174 pounds, with a 51 mile range, I could buy 2 Sur Ron’s plus 4 extra batteries so each Sur Ron could have 3 batteries, or buy almost 4 Sur-Ron’s, HUM
Better yet for $7000 you could have a Sur Ron’s PLUS 2 more spare batteries, You could strap the 2 extra batteries on as saddle bags and have a range of more than 100 miles, weigh less than the Kalk, and still not look as funky as the Kalk, and still save $7000 for SNACKS !!! Or heck, spend less than $1000 on a better controller to go as fast as the Kalk and still save $6000 for snacks.
